There will be four projects completed in this class.
1. In the first quarter the students will choose a book by a famous American author and they will read it and write a book report on it. The book they choose will have to be approved by me, but there will be some freedom for each student to pursue their interests in American literature.
2. The second project done in the second 9 weeks, Will be a research paper on a social issue. The paper must be written from a Christian perspective dealing with a controversial issue in our culture. This paper will be a minimum of 5 body pages.
3. In the third semester the student will do another book report. All the requirements of the first one will still need to be met, but this report will be presented to the class formally. It will also include an analysis of the author’s life and times.
4. The final paper will be a critical literary essay. It must deal with a theme of literature that has been discussed earlier in the year. This paper will be a minimum of 7 pages and it will formally presented in class.
